A name, a crest and a lance that breaks for real
Break a Lance has a name, a crest and a home. The crest is a red shield with a white B, crossed by a broken, striped jousting lance like the ones you ride with in the game.
The idea behind the game is simple: nothing in the joust is animated in advance. The lance is a physical object. It bends as it loads up against a shield and snaps where the stress is highest, leaving a raw, freshly split face of wood. The knights are physical too. A good strike can lift a rider out of the saddle, and where he lands and slides depends on how he was hit. His furrow stays in the sand of the lists.
Every match is filmed for the Theater, so you can watch the hit again slowly, from the stands, from behind either knight or through his helm.
The game is coming to Steam in 2027. Join the Discord to follow along and hear about playtests first.
